Tribute

Father Bertrand Pattison, O.S.B.

We offer gratitude to God and prayers for the deceased soul of the Rev. Msgr. William T. Davis, D.P. of Toronto, Canada.  Msgr. Davis was a well known visitor and participant in the life of Holy Redeemer and it’s people for over thirty years.  He was born in Scotland and came to Canada at an early age.  He was a professor at St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto.  For 31 years he was Director of the Papal Mission-Aid Societies in English speaking Canada and also Director of the Propagation of the Faith.  Each summer he would come to assist Fr. Fitzpatrick.  While here he was the general chairman of the annual Bazaar; he would teach the children the Gregorian chant of the Mass of the Angels.  He was very much a part of the Parish family in so many ways.  We remember him with love.

Another man of God who is part of our Holy Redeemer family going back over thirty years is our friend the Very Rev. Bertrand Pattison, O.S.B., presently of Belmont, North Carolina.  Fr. “B” as we know him came from England as a Franciscan.  During the Second World War, he served as a Chaplain in the R.A.F.  Shortly after arriving in the U.S.A., he joined the Benedictines.  He is a renowned writer, teacher, artist and friend to all.  He is still serving each summer in St. Ignatius Parish of Northeast Harbor and its mission churches.  Our older parishioners still fondly speak of him as Fr. Anthony, his religious order name while with the Franciscans.  We say God bless you Fr. “B” and grant you to us for many more years.

Last but not least we remember Fr. William Rogers of Detroit, Michigan, and Fr Cyprian Truss, O.F.M. both of whom God has called home to the Kingdom.  May they rest in Peace.  To all the other Priests and Seminarians who gave of themselves to our Parish, we say a heartfelt THANK YOU.
